About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Control Systems Engineer with a strong blend of electrical design and industrial control systems expertise to join our growing engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to design, develop, and optimize automation solutions across a diverse range of industrial projects including manufacturing, processing, and hazardous environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical control systems for industrial applications
  • Produce electrical schematics, panel layouts, and cable schedules
  • Develop and program PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems
  • Perform system integration, FAT/SAT testing, and site commissioning
  • Optimize existing automation systems for performance, reliability, and safety
  • Ensure compliance with relevant New Zealand standards and safety regulations
  • Provide technical documentation and client support

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechatronic, or Control Systems Engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience in industrial automation or electrical design
  • Strong knowledge of PLC platforms (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric)
  • Experience with SCADA systems and industrial communications (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus)
  • Knowledge of VSDs, motor control, and instrumentation
  • Ability to interpret functional descriptions
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills
  • Ability to travel to local NZ project sites as required
