Senior Electrical Engineer
The role:
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our client’s team of experienced electrical engineers specialising in the design and delivery of critical power and distribution projects. This work will see you involved in the design of substations, overhead and underground electrical distribution lines and associated equipment. Based in Christchurch, you will be part of international consultancy group applying their expertise to the New Zealand marketplace.

A day in the life of Senior Electrical Engineer:
Your day will see you involved in a variety of tasks such as:
• Perform site visits and assessments to determine the best design solutions.
• Developing conceptual and detailed electrical designs for HV/MV Substation projects
• Transformer and cable sizing
• Designing overhead and underground electrical distribution lines in line with industry standards and regulations.
• Reviewing external conceptual and detailed designs for substation projects
• Managing projects, to ensure, on time delivery of project documentation as per timelines and budgets.
What we require from you:
Ideally you will have a consultancy background with 8 to 10 years substation design experience in the energy or infrastructure sectors. You will be highly motivated with a desire to deliver first class engineering services to customers, with skills and experience in:
• CATAN's COLDNet Pole and COLDNet profile
• CAD software such as AutoCAD and Inventor
• Substation equipment arrangements and installation methods
• Primary & Secondary detailed design experience
• Electricity protection primary and secondary testing
• New Zealand’s electrical distribution standards and regulations.
Along with the above skills and experience you will have a tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering, with strong verbal and written English communication skills that will enable you to effectively communicate with colleagues, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
